Red Scarf #1

I finished one Red Scarf last night. It's a simple double-crochet scarf in a bright red no-name yarn (that happens to look and feel a lot like Lion Brand's Homespun yarn). For anyone looking for a simple scarf, here's what I did:

Heavy worsted yarn (something like Lion Brand Homespun yarn)
Crochet hook, size M (yup, it's a big one)

gauge: 13 dc = 5" and 5 rows = 4"
abbreviations: ch = chain, sc - single crochet, dc - double crochet, fpdc - front post double crochet

Chain 14, skip first chain, and do one sc in each ch (13 sc)

Row 1 - ch2, turn (counts as 1 dc), *FPDC in next sc, DC in next sc, repeat from * across (13 dc, each row has 13 dc)

Row 2 - ch2, turn, if next DC was a FPDC in the previous row do a DC, if next DC was NOT a FPDC in the previous row, do a FPDC, repeat from * across

Rows 3-5 - ch2 turn, DC across

Repeat rows 1-5 for desired length, ending with row 2. Last row - ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across and end yarn. Weave in yarn tails.

Enjoy!

(I'm going to be offline for the next few weeks.)
